Jacobus van der Stok (baptized Leiden , December January 1794 - Amsterdam , May 4 1864 ) was a Dutch painter and draftsman .

Van der Stok was baptized in the Catholic church on the Bakkersteeg in Leiden, the son of wig maker Jacobus van der Stok and Anna Starkenburg. He married in 1823 with Philippina Rekker. He was a pupil of the Leiden active painter Albertus Jacobus Besters . [1]Van der Stok settled in mid-1828 in Amsterdam. He mainly painted landscapes and put his signature to unusual places or in camouflage colors. He taught at Matthias Parre , Cornelis Springer and his daughter Jacoba van der Stok .

Van der Stok died in Amsterdam at the age of 70.
